Suppose I needed to extract theexceltrainer.co.uk from this string:

https://theexceltrainer.co.uk/excel-extract-text-between-characters

I published a video back in 2022 that covered how to do it. There were 2 options – use a long-winded formula or use Power Query. However if you’re a Microsoft 365 user there’s now a much simpler way, using a combination of 2 relatively new functions – TEXTBEFORE and TEXTAFTER

=TEXTBEFORE(TEXTAFTER(A1, “//”), “/”)
