Flash Fill is a new feature in Excel 2013. Flash Fill will save you time. Flash Fill will save you having to write complex formulas in order to extract data from a single column or combine data from several columns.
You simply provide an example of what you want it to do and Excel will automatically will copy it down a column, updating the values in each row.
In this video you’ll find several examples of how Flash Fill in Excel 2013 will save you time and make you more productive. The video is part of an Office 2013 webinar that I delivered in August 2012..
Loved the topic. I’ve briefly played around with 2013, but wouldn’t have thought of doing that as I didn’t even knew that feature existed.
The other great thing is that it peripherally brought my attention to the already existing Fill function. I never taught or even touched that button before. I usually right click over the drag handle to make this appear. This is much easier and more robust.
