Whilst many of us in the Excel community were getting excited about the 14 new functions that Microsoft bestowed upon us this week (you did see my video didn’t you?), don’t forget that only a small percentage of users have these new functions.
Not only are they currently only available to those on the Beta Channel, it’s random as to when you get them as Microsoft roll these out over a period of days or weeks.
Of my 3 machines enrolled in the Beta programme. 2 of them did not have the new functions.
And if you work in a corporate environment, forget it. You could be 6-12 months behind the latest release.
So what happens if a user who doesn’t have the new functions opens an Excel file containing the new functions? See the attached screenshot for the answer:
